Online Travel Agents (OTA's) charge commission or booking fee to use their service. This means one of two things: (1) You pay more to stay at a property or (2) the accommodation provider gets less than you think you are paying for the accommodation.
The OTA's do offer some advantages for guests (but few for accommodation providers) in that they 'manage' your booking for you. Therefore you pay for this service.
Last year, just a small business like ours paid £1000's in commission to the OTA,s. In essence this cost you more, and we received less in income for the accommodation provided. This is fair enough, if guests understand this.
Most, if not all accommodation providers have the option to book direct. If, you want to get the best value accommodation, this is the best way.
